Laylat al-Raghaib, marking the night connecting the first Thursday of the Islamic month of Rajab to Friday, is a significant event in the Islamic calendar, symbolizing the commencement of the three holy months.

The event featured recitations from the Holy Qur'an by various scholars, along with performances of Mawlid-i Sharif and qasida, enriching the spiritual ambiance of the night. Istanbul Deputy Provincial Mufti İsa Aktaş addressed the congregation, emphasizing the importance of the three holy months as a period for spiritual reflection and growth.

Mufti Aktaş highlighted that Regaip Night is a time when prayers are particularly accepted, urging believers to engage in worship with a consciousness of 'ihsan'—the awareness of performing deeds as if seeing Allah, knowing that He observes all. He stated, "Faith cannot reach perfection without deeds. We should do our worship in the consciousness of ihsan."

He further encouraged the faithful to use this period to repent for past mistakes and sins, to abandon bad habits, and to turn sincerely towards Allah. Quoting Hazrat Ali, he reminded the congregation that as time passes, it is life itself that moves forward, prompting introspection on one's spiritual journey.

The Fatih Mosque, an iconic Ottoman structure in Istanbul, provided a fitting backdrop for the observance of Regaip Kandili. Such gatherings play a crucial role in fostering communal bonds and enhancing the spiritual life of the city's Muslim population.

The event underscored the significance of Laylat al-Raghaib in Islamic tradition, serving as a reminder for believers to seek spiritual renewal and to strengthen their devotion during these sacred months. (ILKHA)
