Poland assumes EU council presidency amid geopolitical tensions
Poland has officially taken over the rotating presidency of the Council of the European Union, effective from January 1 to June 30, 2025.
According to the official website of Poland's presidency in the EU Council, Warsaw has outlined a series of priorities centered on bolstering security. The Polish government plans to address "increasing geopolitical tensions, the erosion of the rules-based international order, and hybrid attacks targeting European democracy and security" during its tenure.
