In a statement released by the Senegalese News Agency (APS), President Faye instructed the Minister of Armed Forces to develop a new defense and security cooperation doctrine that will eliminate the presence of all foreign military bases in Senegal.

This announcement follows President Faye's November statement that French military bases in Senegal were incompatible with the nation's sovereignty. Furthermore, in late January, French media outlet Le Monde reported that France planned to significantly reduce its military presence in several African countries, including Senegal, Gabon, and Côte d'Ivoire.

These developments coincide with the recent handover of a French military base in Faya-Largeau, Chad, to the Chadian military. This marks a significant step in France's ongoing withdrawal of forces from the country. (ILKHA)
