In a statement on X, Ghebreyesus expressed that “Hospitals in #Gaza have once again become battlegrounds and the health system is under severe threat.” He highlighted that Kamal Adwan Hospital in northern Gaza is now "out of service," with its director, Dr. Hussam Abu Safiya, missing since his detention two days ago. Critical patients have been transferred to Indonesian Hospital, which is also no longer functioning.

Ghebreyesus reported that patients were detained during hospital transfers and implored Israel to ensure the health care needs and rights of these individuals are upheld. Additionally, he mentioned attacks on Al-Ahli Hospital and Al-Wafa Rehabilitation Hospital in Gaza City, both of which sustained damage.

“We repeat: stop attacks on hospitals. People in Gaza need access to health care. Humanitarians need access to provide health aid. Ceasefire!,” Ghebreyesus concluded.

Last Friday, Israeli forces conducted a raid on Kamal Adwan Hospital in Beit Lahia, resulting in extensive damage and the forced evacuation of patients and displaced civilians. (ILKHA)
