Syria appoints first woman governor of central bank
Syria's new administration has appointed Maysaa Sabrine as the Governor of the Central Bank of Syria, making her the first woman to hold this position in the bank's history.
Sabrine, who has a distinguished career in the banking sector, previously served as First Deputy Governor and Supervising Director at the Central Bank. She also held the position of Head of the Office Supervision Department.
Her appointment comes amid calls for increased female representation in the new Syrian government. Earlier this month, Aisha al-Dibas was appointed as the head of the Office for Women’s Affairs, marking another significant step towards greater gender equality within the administration.
This appointment is seen as a positive step towards empowering women in leadership roles and promoting gender diversity within Syria's government. (ILKHA)
