Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan held a phone call with his Jordanian counterpart Ayman Safadi on Monday to deliberate on recent developments in Syria, according to Turkish diplomatic sources.
The discussion followed visits by both ministers to Damascus, where they engaged with Syrian officials. Fidan’s trip, which took place on Sunday, was described as a pivotal diplomatic step aimed at fostering a “new and hopeful era” for the Syrian people.
“We aim to ensure stability and security in Syria, eliminate terrorism, promote national reconciliation, support economic development, and facilitate the return of Syrians who have been displaced for years,” Fidan said during his visit to Damascus.
The Turkish foreign minister emphasized Türkiye’s commitment to stabilizing Syria amidst persistent regional challenges. While in Damascus, Fidan held a joint press conference with Ahmad al Sharaa, the leader of Syria’s new administration, highlighting efforts to strengthen bilateral cooperation and regional security.
The phone call between Fidan and Safadi signals ongoing collaboration between Türkiye and Jordan in addressing the complexities of the Syrian conflict. Both countries have reiterated their shared goals of promoting peace, stability, and security in the war-torn nation.
Türkiye and Jordan have been actively involved in efforts to resolve the Syrian crisis, including facilitating humanitarian aid and addressing regional security concerns. Their joint focus on diplomatic engagement reflects a commitment to regional stability and the well-being of the Syrian population. (ILKHA)
