China retaliates: Sanctions imposed on Canadian groups and individuals
China has imposed sanctions on two Canadian organizations and 20 individuals in retaliation for Canada's recent sanctions against Chinese officials.
The Chinese Foreign Ministry announced on Saturday that the sanctions target the Uyghur Rights Advocacy Project and the Canada-Tibet Committee, along with 20 of their employees.
The sanctions include the freezing of assets belonging to the sanctioned entities and a ban on Chinese citizens and organizations from conducting any transactions or cooperation with them. Additionally, the 20 employees will be denied visas to enter China, Hong Kong, and Macau.
These measures come in response to Canada's December 10th decision to sanction eight Chinese officials, both current and former, accused of human rights abuses in Xinjiang and Tibet. (ILKHA)
