Türkiye records 188,966 road motor vehicle registrations in November

Cars were the dominant category, accounting for 44.9% of registrations, followed by motorcycles at 38.9%, small trucks at 10.3%, and other vehicle types such as tractors, trucks, minibuses, buses, and special purpose vehicles.

Despite the overall drop, several vehicle categories saw growth from the previous month. Special purpose vehicles led the way with a 51.8% increase, followed by small trucks (14.1%), cars (13.7%), minibuses (5.8%), and tractors (0.5%). On the other hand, motorcycles, buses, and trucks experienced decreases, with motorcycles dropping by 31.1%.

Compared to November of the previous year, road motor vehicle registrations saw a 3.7% increase. Notable increases included minibuses (47.3%), special purpose vehicles (35.8%), and small trucks (18.7%). However, tractors, trucks, buses, and cars all saw year-over-year declines.

By the end of November, the total number of road motor vehicles registered reached 31,067,698. Cars represented the majority of the total with 51.9%, followed by motorcycles at 19.8%, small trucks at 15.1%, and tractors at 7.3%.

In terms of vehicle handovers, 917,715 vehicles were handed over in November. Cars again led the share at 68.7%, with small trucks (15.4%), motorcycles (8.2%), and tractors (3.2%) following.

Of the 84,000 new cars registered in November, Renault was the leading brand, accounting for 13.3% of registrations, followed by Volkswagen (8.3%), Hyundai (7.4%), and Fiat (7.1%). Other notable brands included Peugeot, Skoda, and Toyota.

In the January-November period, 2,359,823 road motor vehicles were registered, reflecting a 12.9% increase compared to the same period last year. The number of vehicles withdrawn also rose by 12.2%, reaching 31,250.

Among the 906,077 cars registered in the same period, 61.9% were gasoline-powered, 15.8% were hybrid, 11.7% were diesel, 9.5% were electric, and 1.1% were LPG-fueled. By the end of November, there were 16,122,636 registered cars, with 34.3% powered by diesel, 32% by LPG, and 30.1% by gasoline.

In terms of engine size, the most common among the new cars was 1300cc or less, representing 32.9% of registrations. Additionally, 350,011 cars registered in the January-November period were grey, making it the most popular color, followed by white (26.1%) and black (13%).

Overall, the motor vehicle market continues to evolve, with significant shifts in fuel types and vehicle preferences in Türkiye. (ILKHA)
