Afghanistan renews electricity import agreement with Uzbekistan
The Afghan power company, Da Afghanistan Breshna Sherkat (DABS), has renewed an agreement with Uzbekistan to continue importing electricity from the neighboring country throughout 2025.
The agreement, signed by DABS Managing Director Abdul Bari Omar and his Uzbek counterpart, aims to address Afghanistan's significant energy deficit.
This agreement follows a similar deal recently renewed with Turkmenistan, which will also continue to export electricity to Afghanistan in 2025.
Afghanistan currently produces around 300 megawatts of power domestically and relies heavily on imports from neighboring countries to meet its energy needs. (ILKHA)
