United States: Child attacker among five dead in Wisconsin school shooting
A tragic shooting at Abundant Life Christian School on Monday has left five people dead, including the child responsible for the attack, authorities confirmed. Several others were injured during the incident.
Madison Police Chief Shon Barnes, addressing reporters, announced that the death toll had risen to five from an earlier count of three. While no details about the victims were provided, Chief Barnes confirmed that responding police officers did not fire their weapons during the incident.
The shooting occurred at Abundant Life Christian School, a private nondenominational institution serving approximately 390 students from kindergarten through high school.
Authorities quickly secured the area, blocking off roads around the school. Agents from the federal Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives are assisting local law enforcement with the investigation.
Wisconsin Governor Tony Evers expressed condolences in a statement: "We are praying for the kids, educators, and entire Abundant Life school community as we await more information and are grateful for the first responders who are working quickly to respond."
