Syrian sources reported that Israeli warplanes conducted at least 61 airstrikes in less than five hours, focusing on areas around the capital, Damascus. The attacks reportedly caused extensive damage, though the full extent of casualties or destruction has yet to be confirmed.

In response, Syria has lodged a formal complaint with the United Nations, condemning what it describes as the Israeli regime’s ongoing aggression and occupation of Syrian lands. The strikes are part of a broader pattern of Israeli military operations against targets in Syria, often justified by Israel as efforts to counter threats from Iran-backed groups operating in the region.

The de facto Syrian leader, Abu Mohammad al-Jolani, criticized Israel’s actions, calling out its continued "land grabs" and attacks on Syrian sovereignty. However, he stated that his administration would not engage in direct military confrontation with Israel at this time.

This latest escalation adds to the ongoing instability in Syria, a country still grappling with the aftermath of years of civil war and foreign intervention. The airstrikes have drawn widespread condemnation, with calls for international action to address Israel's military incursions into Syrian territory. (ILKHA)
