Yemeni forces launch drone strikes on Jaffa and Ashkelon

Brigadier General Yahya Saree, spokesperson for the Yemeni Armed Forces, confirmed the operations in a statement issued on Friday.

“Yemeni Armed Forces announce two military operations targeting occupied Ashkelon and Jaffa, successfully reaching their objectives with drones that bypassed interception systems,” General Saree said.

He also revealed a joint operation with Iraq’s Islamic Resistance, a coalition of anti-terror combatants, targeting “vital sites in southern occupied Palestine using multiple drones.” Saree described the outcomes as “successful,” underscoring the effectiveness of the strikes.

The statement pledged continued operations against Israel until the “aggression stops and the siege on Gaza is lifted.” The Yemeni forces had conducted similar strikes earlier in the week, targeting Tel Aviv and Ashkelon with unmanned aerial vehicles that reportedly “hit their designated targets precisely.”

The Yemeni Armed Forces reiterated their unwavering support for the Palestinian struggle against Israeli occupation. This support has intensified since Israel launched a war on Gaza on October 7 in response to the Palestinian Resistance’s surprise retaliatory operation, Al-Aqsa Storm.

Yemen has vowed not to cease its attacks until the Israeli offensives on Gaza, which have resulted in at least 44,857 deaths and 106,454 injuries, come to an end.

The strikes come amidst heightened tensions in the region, with Yemen aligning itself with other groups opposing Israel’s military actions. The United States and Britain announced in December the formation of a military coalition targeting Yemen in support of Israel, further fueling the conflict.

The developments mark an escalation in Yemen’s direct involvement in the broader resistance against Israeli actions in Gaza, drawing the country deeper into the volatile regional conflict. (ILKHA)
