The airstrike occurred less than 24 hours after the Lebanese army began deploying in Khiyam and Marjayoun in accordance with the ceasefire agreement. The attack resulted in casualties, with reports of fatalities and at least three injuries, according to local media.

In a statement reported by the Lebanese National News Agency (NNA), Mikati described the strike as a “blatant treachery” and accused Israel of violating commitments made under the ceasefire agreement.

“This blatant treachery violates all commitments made by the parties sponsoring the ceasefire agreement, namely the United States and France,” Mikati said. “They must provide a clear stance on what has occurred and take action to curb Israeli aggression.”

Mikati urged the monitoring committee overseeing the ceasefire implementation to take decisive action against this violation and ensure such incidents are not repeated.

He also called on the United States and France to take a clear position on the attacks and act to prevent further Israeli aggression.

Local media reported that at least three people were injured in the airstrike on Khiyam, escalating tensions in the already volatile region.

The attack underscores ongoing challenges in maintaining the ceasefire and raises concerns about the stability of the agreement in southern Lebanon. (ILKHA)
