ITTIHADUL ULEMA calls Assad’s collapse victory for Syrian people
ITTIHADUL ULEMA, a prominent religious scholars' organization, issued a statement on the platform X (formerly Twitter) in response to the collapse of the Baath regime in Syria.
Invoking a verse from the Quran, the organization condemned the Assad regime's legacy of oppression and called for the establishment of an Islamic system grounded in justice and peace.
The statement began with a Quranic reference: “Except those who believe and do righteous deeds, and remember Allah much, and take their rights when they are oppressed. The oppressors will soon know to what fate they will be returned.” It characterized the fall of the Assad regime as a manifestation of divine justice, marking the end of decades of systemic cruelty.
“Our Lord has shown us today the collapse of another oppressor,” the statement declared. “The Baath regime collapsed along with its bloody history. During the existence of this cruel regime, cruelty, massacres, oppression, torture, displacement, and imprisonment were never absent from the lives of the Syrian people.”
The organization expressed hope that this significant development would inspire the downfall of other oppressive regimes in the Islamic world. It emphasized that the fall of tyranny aligns with divine promises:
“It is the promise of our Lord that oppression will not continue and that the light of Allah will envelop the whole world. The fall of each oppressor is a step on this path.”
ITTIHADUL ULEMA called for the establishment of a new Islamic order in Syria, one that embodies Islamic justice and fosters peace among its diverse communities.
Looking beyond Syria, the statement voiced aspirations for the liberation of Islamic lands from oppressive powers, specifically naming Israel, the United States, and Russia. It underscored the centrality of Jerusalem’s freedom in the broader struggle for justice.
“We wish from our Lord that this collapse will be instrumental in the destruction of all cruel orders such as the Zionist terrorist regime Israel, the imperialist USA, and Russia, and the freedom of all Islamic lands, especially Jerusalem,” it concluded.
The organization urged the Syrian people to seize this opportunity to rebuild their nation on the foundations of peace, dialogue, and Islamic principles. ITTIHADUL ULEMA called on all Muslims to continue their prayers and efforts toward the realization of a just and harmonious Islamic world.
The statement by ITTIHADUL ULEMA underscores a collective aspiration for justice, peace, and freedom within the Islamic world. As they reflect on the fall of the Assad regime, they envision a future where oppression is eradicated, and Islamic principles of justice and harmony prevail. The organization hopes that this significant development in Syria will inspire broader change and bring about the end of other oppressive regimes, contributing to the liberation and unity of the Muslim Ummah.
