Landslide closes Black Sea Coastal Highway in northeastern Türkiye
The Black Sea Coastal Highway has been closed to transportation due to a landslide between Fındıklı district in Rize and Arhavi district in Artvin.
The Rize Governorate has issued a statement advising drivers to avoid the affected route for safety reasons.
The landslide occurred during the night at the Kıyıcık location near the Güngören Tunnel, causing soil and rock masses to break off from the slope and block the road in both directions.
Authorities have mobilized teams from the Highways Department, the Disaster and Emergency Management Authority (AFAD), and the Provincial Special Administration to initiate urgent cleanup and repair efforts.
"Citizens are kindly requested not to use this route for the safety of life and property," the governorate stated.
Motorists are advised to stay updated through local authorities for alternative routes and information on the reopening of the road. The situation is being closely monitored, and efforts are underway to restore normalcy as quickly as possible. (ILKHA)
