4.8-magnitude earthquake strikes Mediterranean near Antalya
A 4.8 magnitude earthquake struck the Mediterranean Sea late Saturday evening, according to the Disaster and Emergency Management Authority (AFAD).
The tremor was recorded at 10:13 p.m. local time, with its epicenter located off the coast of Antalya’s Gazipaşa district. The earthquake occurred at a depth of 34.79 kilometers and was situated 73.72 kilometers from Gazipaşa.
While the quake was felt in surrounding areas, no immediate reports of damage or casualties have been released. Authorities have assured the public that they are closely monitoring the situation for potential aftershocks.
