UK imposes tough sanctions on Russia's shadow fleet
The UK has announced its most significant sanctions package yet against Russia's "shadow fleet," targeting over 30 vessels involved in circumventing Western sanctions on Russian oil.
Foreign Secretary David Lammy revealed the news ahead of a G7 foreign ministers' meeting. He emphasized the importance of continued support for Ukraine, urging G7 allies to provide necessary funding and military equipment to sustain Ukraine's defense efforts into 2025.
The UK's latest sanctions aim to disrupt Russia's ability to export oil and generate revenue, which is crucial for funding its war in Ukraine.
The move comes as part of broader international efforts to weaken Russia's ability to fund its military operations and to ensure Ukraine's resilience amid the ongoing conflict. (ILKHA)
