No safe haven: Families evacuate Shuja'iyya neighborhood in Gaza City

Dozens of families, carrying only essential belongings and blankets, fled on foot to central and southern Gaza City. Local sources reported that the evacuation followed warnings of imminent attacks by Israeli forces. With transportation crippled by a severe fuel shortage and the destruction of civilian vehicles during Israeli ground incursions, many had no option but to walk long distances.

This mass displacement adds to the ongoing humanitarian crisis caused by the Israeli assault on Gaza, where residents have endured repeated evacuation orders since the start of the conflict.

According to UN reports, there is no safe place in Gaza. Israeli bombardments have targeted all areas of the Strip, including those previously designated as "safe zones" or "humanitarian corridors." Even UN Relief and Works Agency (UNRWA) shelters have provided little refuge, leaving displaced Palestinians with limited options for safety.

The displacement of Shuja'iyya residents highlights the escalating humanitarian crisis in Gaza. Families are repeatedly uprooted amid continuous airstrikes, ground incursions, and the destruction of critical infrastructure. International organizations have raised alarm over the dire conditions, calling for urgent action to protect civilians.

As Gaza’s population faces unrelenting attacks and displacement, the humanitarian toll continues to rise, with no resolution in sight. (ILKHA)
