Turkish Defense Ministry: 7 PKK/YPG members neutralized in Syria and Iraq
The Turkish Ministry of Defense announced on Saturday that its forces neutralized seven members of the PKK/YPG in operations conducted in northern Syria and Iraq.
In a statement shared on its official social media channels, the ministry reported that six PKK/YPG militants were killed in the Euphrates Shield and Peace Spring regions of northern Syria, while one PKK member was neutralized in the Metina region of northern Iraq.
The Ministry underscored its commitment to combating terrorism, declaring: “Our heroic Turkish Armed Forces neutralized 6 PKK/YPG terrorists identified in the Euphrates Shield and Peace Spring regions in northern Syria and 1 PKK terrorist identified in the Metina region in northern Iraq. Terrorists, wherever they are, will not escape the inevitable end that awaits them.”
Türkiye has intensified its operations against PKK/YPG targets in Syria and Iraq, regions it identifies as key areas of activity for the militant groups. The Euphrates Shield and Peace Spring operations were launched to create secure zones along Türkiye's southern border, while operations in northern Iraq target PKK strongholds in mountainous areas.
These actions are part of Türkiye's broader effort to ensure border security and neutralize what it deems terrorist threats in the region. (ILKHA)
