Afghanistan-Türkiye trade reaches $94 million in first ten months of 2024
The Ministry of Industry and Commerce announced that Afghanistan’s trade volume with Türkiye reached $94 million in the first ten months of 2024.
Of the total trade volume, $21 million represents Afghan exports to Turkey, primarily consisting of agricultural products such as sesame seeds, raisins, almond kernels, cumin, and cowhide. Meanwhile, imports from Turkey amounted to $73 million, with medicinal plants, carpets, and heaters being the main items.
Akhundzada Abdul Salam Jawad, the ministry's spokesperson, confirmed these figures, highlighting the growing economic ties between the two countries.
The figures underline a significant trade imbalance, with imports from Türkiye surpassing exports by over three times. However, the ministry expressed optimism about expanding Afghanistan’s export portfolio in future trade partnerships.
The announcement reflects ongoing efforts to boost Afghanistan’s economy through international trade, particularly with key partners like Türkiye. (ILKHA)
