Türkiye records over 209,000 new vehicle registrations in October
The Turkish Statistical Institute announced on Wednesday that 209,401 road motor vehicle registrations were recorded in October, a 1.4% decrease compared to the previous month.
However, on a year-over-year basis, the number of registrations increased by 13.3%.
Cars accounted for 35.6% of the total registrations, followed by motorcycles at 50.9%. Small trucks, tractors, trucks, minibuses, buses, and special purpose vehicles made up the remaining percentages.
Compared to the previous month, car registrations increased by 19.1%, while motorcycle registrations decreased by 11.7%. Other vehicle categories also experienced varying levels of increase or decrease.
Year-over-year, motorcycle registrations surged by 31.0%, followed by minibuses (20.9%), buses (19.6%), and small trucks (10.0%). Conversely, special purpose vehicles, trucks, tractors, and cars experienced declines.
As of October 2024, the total number of registered road motor vehicles reached 30,883,668. Cars constituted 51.9% of this total, followed by motorcycles at 19.8%.
In terms of new car registrations, Renault led with 11.6%, followed by Volkswagen (10.5%), Hyundai (8.0%), and Fiat (7.7%).
Among the 821,231 cars registered from January to October 2024, 62.6% were gasoline-powered, 15.2% were hybrid, 12.1% were diesel, 9.0% were electric, and 1.1% were LPG-fueled. The most common engine size was 1300cc or less, accounting for 32.8% of registered cars. (ILKHA)
