Speaking to reporters, Dr. Abu Safiya stated: “The hospital is still under Israeli siege, and what is being circulated in the media about allowing the entry of medical aid is inaccurate.”

Dr. Abu Safiya detailed the challenges faced by the hospital amid the ongoing blockade. He revealed that, despite four weeks of waiting for assistance from the World Health Organization (WHO), only seven out of 40 boxes of medical supplies were permitted entry. Food supplies were reportedly removed from ambulances by Israeli forces, and a specialized medical delegation was turned back.

“The lack of surgical specialists is causing us to lose a number of wounded martyrs every day,” Dr. Abu Safiya explained. He also reported an alarming rise in cases of malnutrition, particularly among children, with four currently in critical condition. Instances of malnutrition have now been observed among adults as well.

The hospital, already overwhelmed by casualties from the ongoing conflict, is struggling to provide adequate care amid dire shortages of medicine, food, and medical personnel. Dr. Abu Safiya called for immediate international action to address the worsening humanitarian crisis.

Kamal Adwan Hospital is among several medical facilities in Gaza grappling with the dual challenges of sustained military pressure and insufficient resources, underscoring the urgency of humanitarian interventions in the region. (ILKHA)
