Sudanese army repels RSF attack in north Darfur
The Sudanese Armed Forces (SAF) has announced the successful repulsion of an attack by the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) on the city of Al-Fasher, the capital of North Darfur state.
The SAF claims to have inflicted significant losses on the RSF, including the deaths of over 80 fighters and the destruction of multiple vehicles.
Meanwhile, in a separate incident in southern Gezira State, the Sudan Doctors Network reported the deaths of 17 people and the disappearance of 21 others following an RSF attack on the village of Al-Tumsa. The network expressed deep concern over the ongoing violence and displacement in the region, highlighting the tragic loss of life.
The conflict between the SAF and the RSF has escalated since mid-April 2023, causing widespread destruction and displacement. According to recent estimates, the conflict has claimed the lives of over 24,850 people and forced millions to flee their homes.
As the situation in Sudan remains volatile, international organizations and humanitarian groups are urging a swift end to the violence and a return to peace. (ILKHA)
