Defense Minister Ivan Anušić highlighted the urgency of the acquisition, describing it as a strategic priority for Croatia’s armed forces.

"The Armed Forces of the Republic of Croatia expressed the need for priority and urgent acquisition of the armed Bayraktar TB2 system," Anušić stated, underlining the importance of the deal for national security.

The procurement package includes six Bayraktar TB2 drones equipped with state-of-the-art electro-optical cameras for reconnaissance, alongside an initial set of weapons. The system ensures complete radio coverage of Croatia’s territory in both stationary and mobile configurations.

In addition to the drones, the comprehensive package features a command and control center, a training simulator, ground monitoring and control stations, ground data stations, and a stock of spare parts sufficient for 4,000 flight hours. Croatian personnel will also benefit from a two-year warranty (or up to 4,000 flight hours), on-site deployment of Turkish experts, and extensive training in Türkiye.

The Bayraktar TB2, renowned for its operational effectiveness in multiple conflict zones, is expected to significantly enhance Croatia’s surveillance and defense capabilities. This deal also serves to deepen the strategic partnership between Croatia and Türkiye, both NATO allies.

The drones are anticipated to play a critical role in strengthening Croatia’s military readiness and modernizing its defense infrastructure. (ILKHA)
