Turkish forces neutralize 48 PKK/YPG members in cross-border operations over past week
Türkiye’s Ministry of National Defence (MND) announced that 48 members of the PKK/YPG were neutralized in the past week during cross-border operations in northern Iraq and northern Syria.
The operations, which also took place within Türkiye, were disclosed during the Ministry’s Weekly Press Briefing.
According to the MND, these recent actions bring the total number of PKK/YPG members neutralized since January 1 to 2,505. Of these, 1,299 were neutralized in northern Iraq and 1,206 in northern Syria.
During the recent operations in northern Iraq’s Claw-Lock zone, Turkish forces reportedly seized a significant amount of weaponry, ammunition, and other materials stored in caves used by PKK members. Additionally, the Ministry reported that one PKK member voluntarily surrendered at the Ceylanpınar border post in the last week.
The Ministry reaffirmed Türkiye’s ongoing commitment to counter-terrorism efforts in the region and emphasized the importance of securing the nation’s borders. (ILKHA)
