US claims repelling Yemeni attack on warships
The Pentagon has claimed that U.S. forces successfully repelled a coordinated attack by Yemeni forces on two American destroyers, the USS Stockdale and USS Spruance, as they transited the Bab-el-Mandeb Strait on November 11.
According to Pentagon spokesperson Patrick Ryder, the attack involved a barrage of weapons, including drones, anti-ship ballistic missiles, and anti-ship cruise missiles. The U.S. military claims to have successfully defended its vessels and ensured their safe passage through the strategic waterway.
Yemen, a staunch supporter of the Palestinian cause, has intensified its military actions in response to Israel's ongoing offensive in Gaza. Yemeni officials have vowed to continue their attacks until Israel ceases its military operations, which have led to a devastating humanitarian crisis.
The U.S. and Britain formed a military coalition in December to target Yemen, citing the need to support Israel's security interests amid regional tensions. (ILKHA)
