The ministry noted that 44 people were killed and 88 others injured on Monday alone.

The current conflict, which erupted on October 7 last year, has seen Israel launching an extensive air campaign targeting what it claims are Hezbollah positions. The escalation marks a significant intensification of the cross-border hostilities that have persisted since Israel’s offensive on Gaza.

Israel’s attacks in Lebanon, which began in late September, come as part of an expanding regional conflict linked to the situation in Gaza. The ongoing airstrikes have caused extensive casualties and destruction, heightening concerns over the impact on civilian populations and infrastructure.

As the violence continues to escalate, international calls for de-escalation and protection of civilians have grown, though diplomatic efforts have yet to yield a ceasefire. The humanitarian situation in Lebanon remains dire as medical and emergency response resources are stretched thin in the face of ongoing casualties. (ILKHA)
