Demir decried the humanitarian disaster unfolding in Gaza, where Israeli forces continue to bomb residential areas and restrict vital resources, leaving approximately 150,000 civilians in the north facing starvation and a mounting risk of epidemics due to lack of food, water, and medical supplies.

Demir accused the United States of facilitating the occupation's goals by pushing a so-called ceasefire proposal that serves only to legitimize Israel's territorial ambitions. He argued that any imposed settlement that undermines the resistance forces or ignores the urgent need for Israel’s full withdrawal would betray the Palestinian people’s rightful struggle for liberation. He urged countries across the region to reject U.S.-backed proposals that would weaken Palestinian resistance and called for a united front in defense of Palestine’s freedom.

Addressing reports of Türkiye’s continued indirect trade with Israel, Demir criticized any ongoing ties with the occupation regime, which, he argued, poses a threat to regional stability, including Türkiye’s security. Despite the Ministry of Trade’s announcement that trade with Israel had ceased, Demir cited persistent reports that Israeli goods are still entering Türkiye through intermediaries in Palestine, undermining the government’s stance. He expressed concern that Israeli shipping company ZIM, reportedly carrying military supplies, is allowed to operate in Turkish ports, suggesting that these activities are counterproductive to Türkiye’s solidarity with Palestine and the broader Muslim world.

Demir also took issue with the crackdown on protesters in Türkiye who oppose trade with Israel, pointing to a recent incident at Ambarlı Port, where citizens attempting to block ZIM containers bound for Haifa were reportedly met with police force. He argued that suppressing these protests sends the wrong message to the public, who, he believes, overwhelmingly support the Palestinian cause.

Drawing attention to international actions, Demir praised Spain’s recent decision to cancel a 6.5-million-euro ammunition deal with Israel. He called on other nations, particularly those in the Islamic world, to sever ties with Israel as a firm stand against its "genocidal campaign." Demir also referenced U.S. journalist Bob Woodward’s disclosure of U.S. talks with certain Arab leaders who openly expressed their desire to see the Palestinian resistance weakened, urging Muslim leaders to resist such betrayal of Palestinian and Arab interests.

In a final call to action, Demir advocated for the immediate opening of a humanitarian corridor to deliver aid to the besieged communities in Gaza. He appealed to the entire Muslim world to support the Palestinian and Lebanese people, encouraging a unified movement to pressure for the corridor and to oppose the occupation’s campaign against innocent civilians.

Demir’s statements highlighted both the urgency of humanitarian intervention in Gaza and the necessity of regional solidarity to counter occupation, reaffirming Türkiye's and the Islamic world’s historical commitment to the Palestinian cause. (ILKHA)
