Hezbollah launches missiles near Tel Aviv's Ben Gurion Airport
Hezbollah launched a series of missiles targeting Israeli military sites on Wednesday, with several missiles causing significant damage near Tel Aviv’s Ben Gurion Airport.
The Lebanese resistance movement announced that it had targeted the Tserfin military base, located south of Tel Aviv, with a salvo of advanced missiles.
The attack temporarily halted air traffic at Ben Gurion Airport, delaying at least one flight to Paris. Airport officials confirmed operations resumed after a brief pause. Images shared on social media showed plumes of smoke rising from the vicinity of the airport. One missile struck a vehicle in the central city of Ra’anana, while another created a large crater close to the airport’s perimeter.
Hebrew reports indicated that a Boeing 777 aircraft was damaged by shrapnel and missile fragments, though no injuries were reported. The Israeli military confirmed that most of the missiles were intercepted, but one missile made impact in central Israel.
The missile barrage came as part of a wider Hezbollah operation, marking the 40th day since the assassination of the group's leader, Hassan Nasrallah. In addition to the missile attack near Ben Gurion, Hezbollah targeted several military sites and settlements in northern Israel, including Sasa, Kiryat Shmona, and Metula.
Hezbollah's military media also reported a missile strike on a house in Metula, which allegedly housed Israeli soldiers. The attack reportedly killed and wounded individuals inside.
On the same day, Hezbollah released footage of a rocket attack on the Israeli city of Nahariya. In the video, a resistance fighter was seen saluting the new Hezbollah Secretary-General, Naim Qassem, and declaring that Hezbollah would persist in the conflict, regardless of its duration.
This series of operations by Hezbollah follows a larger offensive targeting military installations and settlements in northern Israel earlier in the week. (ILKHA)
