Mikati attributed the responsibility for Israel's actions to the global community, highlighting a lack of intervention amid the escalating violence.

“In a time when nations committed to humanity and human rights should be pressuring Israel to halt its aggression, their silence is deeply troubling,” Mikati stated. He urged international bodies to take a stronger stance to prevent further escalation.

Mikati also affirmed that the Lebanese government remains dedicated to United Nations Security Council Resolution 1701, which calls for a cessation of hostilities between Israel and Hezbollah and mandates an increased Lebanese military presence in southern Lebanon. He reiterated Lebanon's commitment to bolstering its army’s role in the region to maintain stability and prevent further conflicts.

Welcoming all calls for a ceasefire, Mikati noted that despite Lebanon’s willingness for peace, Israel has rejected proposed solutions and continues military operations in various Lebanese areas, including attacks on archaeological sites. He emphasized Lebanon's support for diplomatic efforts to achieve peace and condemned what he described as war crimes committed by Israeli forces against Lebanese civilians and cultural heritage.

The Prime Minister’s remarks come amid increasing calls from Lebanese officials for international intervention and a formal ceasefire as the conflict continues to impact Lebanese citizens and infrastructure. (ILKHA)
