In a press statement on Sunday, Basal highlighted the unyielding bombardment of residential areas in northern Gaza, resulting in extensive destruction to buildings, infrastructure, and essential service facilities. He described a persistent atmosphere of fear and terror, with artillery and drone strikes posing severe risks to civilians.

Basal stated that repeated appeals to international organizations and humanitarian groups have not alleviated the worsening humanitarian crisis in Gaza. He reported that the medical and civil defense systems in the northern governorate remain non-operational, with emergency personnel unable to reach affected areas. Additionally, he revealed that civil defense vehicles and equipment have been barred from entry for over 400 days, rendering local rescue services largely ineffective.

“There are more than 100,000 people in the northern Gaza governorate who lack basic necessities—food, water, and medicine—yet we are unable to provide any relief,” Basal said.

He called upon the global community to increase pressure on international bodies to allow humanitarian aid and facilitate life-saving operations. “We ask only for humanitarian assistance to reach our people amid the ongoing conflict, so that we may resume our work without obstruction,” he added.
