Nine Palestinians dead as Israeli airstrikes hit homes across Gaza
Israeli forces killed nine Palestinians in Gaza on Sunday, targeting two homes in Jabalia and Beit Lahiya in the north, as well as Rafah in the south.
According to local reports, three civilians were killed and several others injured when Israeli warplanes struck a home belonging to the Al-Najjar family in Jabalia. In Beit Lahiya, five more civilians lost their lives in another airstrike that also injured multiple people.
Further south, an Israeli drone attack in Rafah claimed one life and injured two others, adding to the casualties as the conflict continues to escalate.
These recent attacks contribute to the rising death toll since the renewed conflict began in October 2023. Palestinian health authorities report at least 43,314 fatalities and over 102,019 injuries so far. Civil defense teams are struggling to access victims trapped under the rubble, hindered by the intensity of ongoing bombardments.
The violence persists despite international pressure. The United Nations Security Council has called for an immediate ceasefire, and the International Court of Justice has issued directives urging preventive measures to halt what it describes as potential genocidal actions and to address the worsening humanitarian crisis in Gaza.
