Ayatollah Khamenei: US and Israel will face ‘crushing response’ for hostile actions
Iran’s Leader of the Islamic Revolution, Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei, issued a stark warning to the United States and Israel, stating that both nations would face a “crushing response” for their recent actions.
His remarks were made on the occasion of Iran's annual National Day of the Fight against Global Arrogance, observed each year on November 4 to commemorate the 1979 takeover of the US embassy in Tehran by Iranian students.
Speaking to a large gathering of students, Ayatollah Khamenei reflected on the history of this day, which marks the 13th day of the Iranian month of Aban. He highlighted that, in 1979, less than a year after the Islamic Revolution ousted the US-backed monarchy, a group of university students stormed the US embassy in Tehran. The students, who identified themselves as “followers of the line of Imam Khomeini,” accused the embassy of being a hub for espionage and covert plans aimed at toppling the nascent Islamic Republic. Documents obtained by the students were later published, allegedly showing evidence of US efforts to destabilize Iran.
Ayatollah Khamenei’s comments were made in a charged political atmosphere as tensions between Iran, Israel, and the United States have intensified. He emphasized Iran’s readiness to respond decisively to what he termed “the crimes” committed by Israel and its US allies.
Every year, Iranian citizens, particularly students, hold rallies across the country to observe the anniversary of the embassy takeover, which has become a symbol of Iran’s stance against what it calls “global arrogance” represented by the United States and its allies. The event serves as both a commemoration and a reaffirmation of the ideals set forth by the 1979 Revolution and the principles upheld by the Islamic Republic. (ILKHA)
