47 Palestinians killed in latest Israeli airstrikes in central Gaza
Israeli airstrikes late last night resulted in the deaths of 47 Palestinians, with many of the victims identified as women and children.
The strikes targeted multiple locations, including the city of Deir al-Balah, the Nuseirat refugee camp, and the town of Al-Zawaida in central Gaza.
Medical sources confirmed that the bodies of those killed were transported to Al-Aqsa Martyrs Hospital in Deir al-Balah. Numerous others sustained injuries from the bombardments that struck various residential areas.
According to local reports, a significant number of casualties occurred in Nuseirat, where Israeli airstrikes targeted several homes, including those housing displaced families from other regions. Eyewitness accounts revealed that residents attempting to assist those affected by the initial strikes were subjected to further attacks from subsequent bombings.
Search and rescue operations are currently ongoing as efforts continue to locate individuals believed to be trapped under the rubble. The ongoing Israeli aggression against Gaza, which has persisted since October 2023, has reportedly led to at least 43,204 documented Palestinian fatalities and over 101,640 injuries.
Thousands more are feared to be trapped under debris, rendering them inaccessible to emergency and civil defense teams due to the continued Israeli strikes.
Despite repeated calls from the United Nations Security Council for an immediate ceasefire and directives from the International Court of Justice urging measures to prevent genocide and address the dire humanitarian situation in Gaza, Israel's assaults show no signs of abating. (ILKHA)
