Hamas congratulates Hezbollah on election of Naim Qassem as secretary-general
The Palestinian Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas) has publicly congratulated Hezbollah on the recent election of Sheikh Naim Qassem as the party’s new Secretary-General.
In a press statement, Hamas celebrated the appointment as a sign of resilience for Hezbollah following the loss of its former leader, Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah, who Hamas referred to as a “martyred mujahid on the path to Jerusalem.”
In the statement, Hamas praised Qassem’s leadership, expressing solidarity with Hezbollah’s efforts against what it termed as the “Zionist enemy” and commending the Lebanese organization’s ongoing “path of jihad and resistance.” Hamas extended its wishes for Qassem’s success in advancing the movement’s objectives in Lebanon, Palestine, and the broader region, declaring its commitment to supporting Hezbollah’s new leadership.
The statement concluded with prayers for Qassem’s guidance and protection as he assumes his role within Hezbollah, emphasizing unity between the two groups in their shared opposition to Israel and its presence in the region. (ILKHA)
