Türkiye condemns Israeli move to ban UNRWA activities
The Turkish Foreign Ministry has strongly condemned the Israeli Parliament's steps to end the activities of the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA) in the Occupied Palestinian Territories.
The ministry emphasized that such a move is a clear violation of international law and aims to undermine the two-state solution and prevent the return of Palestinian refugees to their homeland.
UNRWA, established by a UN General Assembly resolution in 1949, has been providing vital assistance to millions of Palestinian refugees for decades. Türkiye, as the Chair of the Working Group on the Financing of UNRWA, reaffirmed its commitment to providing both political and financial support to the agency.
The ministry called on the international community to take a strong stance against Israel's attempts to ban UNRWA and to uphold its crucial role in maintaining regional stability. (ILKHA)
