Turkish police arrests 216 suspects in nationwide anti-ISIS operation
Türkiye's interior minister said Monday that 216 suspected members of the Islamic State group had been detained in recent raids across the country.
The coordinated effort, spanning 42 provinces, targeted suspects allegedly linked to ISIS, with operations conducted under the supervision of Chief Public Prosecutor's Offices and General Directorate of Security Intelligence and Counter-Terrorism (TEM) departments.
Yerlikaya shared on social media that the provinces involved included major cities such as Istanbul, Ankara, and Izmir, along with other regions like Diyarbakır, Bursa, and Antalya. The suspects face investigations for alleged roles within the ISIS network, including responsibilities for past organizational activities and financial support.
This extensive operation reflects Turkey's ongoing efforts to dismantle ISIS influence within its borders, with investigations set to proceed in coordination with the Provincial Security Directorate’s TEM Branches to determine the extent of each suspect's involvement in the organization. (ILKHA)
