Turkish Coast Guard rescues 41 irregular migrants off Muğla coast
The Turkish Coast Guard Command successfully rescued 41 irregular migrants from boats drifting off the coast of Marmaris and Datça districts in Muğla due to engine failure.
The operations, conducted on Sunday, highlighted the ongoing efforts to address migrant smuggling and ensure safety at sea.
In Marmaris, 17 irregular migrants were rescued from a fiber boat that experienced engine failure. The Coast Guard also detained one suspect believed to be a migrant smuggler.
Off the coast of Datça, 24 irregular migrants, including nine children, were saved from a rubber boat that had also suffered engine failure. Meanwhile, in Körmen harbor, 27 irregular migrants, including six children, were captured on land.
All the rescued migrants were transferred to the Provincial Directorate of Migration Management for further processing. (ILKHA)
