The Turkish Ministry of National Defense confirmed the strikes, which focused on “terrorist” strongholds in Hakurk, Gara, Kandil, and Sinjar, and led to the destruction of 34 strategic targets such as caves, shelters, depots, and various facilities utilized by the PKK.

The operation, launched on October 24 at 23:30 local time, was conducted under Article 51 of the United Nations Agreement, which allows for the right of self-defense. The Ministry highlighted that the purpose of the mission was to prevent cross-border attacks against Turkish civilians and security personnel, as well as to fortify Türkiye’s border security.

In its official statement, the Ministry emphasized: “The Turkish Armed Forces, reflecting the will of our noble nation, will maintain their unwavering fight against terrorism until no terrorist remains. Every precaution was taken to prevent harm to innocent civilians, historical and cultural assets, friendly entities, and the environment during these operations.”

The ministry also noted that domestically produced munitions were used extensively in the operation, underscoring Türkiye’s commitment to self-reliance in defense. This latest military action underscores Türkiye’s ongoing campaign to dismantle PKK bases and disrupt the terrorist network in the region. (ILKHA)
