Bloodbath in Gaza: 150 civilians killed or wounded in Israeli attack on Jabalia
Israeli occupation forces launched an airstrike on a residential complex in the Jabalia refugee camp on Thursday evening, killing and injuring approximately 150 civilians, including women and children.
Local sources reported that Israeli warplanes targeted at least ten homes in the Al-Houja area of Jabalia, leading to widespread destruction and heavy casualties. The strike is part of the ongoing Israeli military campaign in northern Gaza, which has been described as an ethnic cleansing operation and genocide by local authorities. The bombardment has been ongoing for three weeks, and the assault on Jabalia is one of the deadliest incidents to date.
Families affected by the airstrike include the Najjar, Abu Al-Ouf, Salman, Hijazi, Abu Qumsan, Aql, Abu Rashid, Abu Tarabish, Zaqoul, and Sha'lan families. Rescue efforts were hindered by continued attacks, making it difficult for emergency teams to reach the wounded, many of whom remain trapped under the rubble.
Since October 5, 2024, Israeli forces have ramped up ground operations and airstrikes across northern Gaza, with the aim of displacing the local population. The death toll in Gaza has surpassed 42,847 Palestinians since October 2023, with over 100,544 injured, according to local health authorities. Thousands more are feared buried beneath debris, inaccessible to rescuers due to ongoing Israeli attacks.
The strike on Jabalia occurred despite international calls for a ceasefire. The United Nations Security Council has urged an immediate halt to the violence, while the International Court of Justice has issued directives to prevent further genocide and to address the severe humanitarian crisis unfolding in Gaza.
