In a statement posted on X (formerly Twitter), Yerlikaya confirmed that the male attacker was Ali Orek, codenamed "Rojger," who was allegedly a member of the outlawed Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK). Yerlikaya added that efforts to identify the female attacker are still ongoing.

The attack, which occurred on Wednesday, resulted in the deaths of five people and left 22 others injured. The two attackers targeted the TUSAS facility, prompting Turkish authorities to suggest that the PKK was behind the incident. Yerlikaya had indicated on Wednesday that the attack was likely linked to the PKK.

TUSAS, a major defense and aviation company, is known for producing KAAN, Turkey’s first national combat aircraft, among other defense products.

The PKK, which has been waging an insurgency against the Turkish government for more than three decades, is designated as a terrorist organization by Turkey, the United States, and the European Union.

The attack has drawn widespread condemnation, as Turkish officials continue their investigation into the incident. (ILKHA)
