In an official statement, UNIFIL condemned the act, highlighting it as a blatant breach of international law. "Yet again, we remind the Israeli army and all actors of their obligations to ensure the safety and security of U.N. personnel and property and to respect the inviolability of U.N. premises at all times," the statement read. "Breaching a U.N. position and damaging U.N. assets is a flagrant violation of international law and Security Council Resolution 1701."

UNIFIL also revealed that the Israeli army has repeatedly demanded the peacekeeping mission vacate its positions along the Blue Line and has intentionally damaged U.N. facilities. Despite these incidents, UNIFIL affirmed its commitment to remaining in place and continuing its mandate to monitor and report, reassuring that peacekeepers remain stationed in all positions despite ongoing pressure on the mission and its troop-contributing nations.

The incident marks yet another escalation of tensions along the Israel-Lebanon border, raising concerns about the safety of U.N. personnel and the potential for further violations of international agreements. (ILKHA)
