Scholz’s delegation landed at Istanbul Airport at 10:03 p.m. local time (1903 GMT), where they were greeted by Turkish Ambassador to Berlin, Ahmet Başar Şen, along with other Turkish officials.

The two leaders are scheduled to meet on Saturday, followed by a joint press conference. Their discussions are expected to cover a broad range of issues, including the ongoing war in Ukraine, recent developments in the Middle East, migration policies, EU-Türkiye relations, bilateral ties, and economic cooperation.

This visit comes after a recent meeting between Scholz and Erdogan in September during the 79th session of the United Nations General Assembly in New York, where they also discussed pressing international and regional concerns. (ILKHA)
