24 irregular migrants rescued by Turkish coast guard off Ayvalık
The Turkish Coast Guard rescued 24 irregular migrants, including two children, who were pushed back into Turkish territorial waters by Greek forces while attempting to reach Lesbos Island.
The incident occurred off the coast of Ayvalık, in Balıkesir province, where the migrants were stranded on a rubber boat after being intercepted. Following the rescue operation, the migrants were taken to the Coast Guard Command on Cunda Island.
They were later handed over to the Provincial Migration Administration for further processing. The situation highlights ongoing tensions and humanitarian concerns in the Aegean Sea migration routes. (ILKHA)
