Turkish Coast Guard rescues 157 irregular migrants pushed back by Greek forces

Upon receiving information about rubber boats carrying irregular migrants off the coasts of Antalya, Aydın, İzmir, and Muğla, the Coast Guard Command swiftly dispatched teams to the area. Rescue operations resulted in the safe recovery of 157 migrants stranded at sea after being forced back by Greek forces.

In separate operations in Muğla and İzmir, 69 irregular migrants, including 21 children, were intercepted aboard rubber boats. Additionally, authorities apprehended five suspected human traffickers in Aydın and Muğla.

All rescued migrants were transferred to the Provincial Directorate of Migration Management for further processing following the completion of official procedures.

This incident highlights ongoing tensions and humanitarian concerns surrounding the treatment of migrants in the Aegean, with reports of pushbacks continuing to draw international attention. (ILKHA)
