At least 12 killed in Egypt bus crash
A tragic bus accident in northeastern Egypt claimed the lives of 12 university students on Tuesday.
The vehicle, carrying students returning from their classes, crashed, resulting in injuries to 33 others.
Emergency services responded swiftly, transporting the injured to nearby hospitals. The Ministry of Health has not yet provided specific details regarding the condition of the wounded.
Authorities have arrested the bus driver as part of an ongoing investigation into the cause of the crash.
While the ministry has not released information about the specific factors contributing to the accident, road accidents are a common occurrence in Egypt. Poor road conditions, excessive speed, and inadequate traffic enforcement are often cited as contributing factors to these tragic events.
Both the Minister of Health, Khaled Abdel-Ghaffar, and the Minister of Higher Education, Ayman Ashour, have expressed their condolences to the families of the deceased students. (ILKHA)
