Hezbollah inflicts heavy losses on Israeli troops in northern Lebanon
In the wake of the recent Israeli invasion of Lebanon, fighters from Hezbollah’s elite military unit, Al-Rudwan, engaged in direct clashes with Israeli soldiers, resulting in significant casualties, according to reports from Israeli media outlets.
Initial reports indicate that dozens of Israeli soldiers were either killed or injured during the first day of these confrontations. Military sources from the Islamic Resistance informed Al-Jazeera that all Israeli soldiers attempting to invade South Lebanon faced either death or injury, claiming that the remaining soldiers fled the scene.
Hezbollah's sources stated that their fighters are actively targeting the frontline of the invading forces, as well as the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) supply lines and gatherings within the occupied Palestinian territories.
Further details emerged regarding an ambush in Al-Odaisseh/Khallet al-Mahaffar, located on the Lebanese-Palestinian border. According to Islamic Resistance military sources speaking to Al-Mayadeen, the ambush was set up following reconnaissance movements by the Israeli army observed in the early hours of Tuesday, October 1, 2024. The fighters allowed the reconnaissance team to complete its mission before preparing their ambush.
At dawn on Wednesday, October 2, an elite Israeli force of over 30 officers and soldiers infiltrated the ambush zone. As they approached, the Resistance fighters shouted “Labbayka ya Nasrallah” and opened fire, resulting in numerous casualties among the infiltrating soldiers.
In the midst of the clash, support groups from the Islamic Resistance targeted Israeli supply lines in Misgav Am, Kfar Giladi, and Al-Metula using mortars and rockets, impeding reinforcements for the attacked Israeli unit.
The Israeli Air Force responded with helicopters to comb the area and evacuate the wounded and deceased, while Israeli forces deployed smoke bombs to obscure their movements.
The Islamic Resistance reaffirmed its commitment to defending Lebanon and supporting the Gaza Strip, promising to remain steadfast in protecting the territory under the guidance of its martyred leaders. The sources warned that the recent clashes were just a small indication of what could occur should Israeli forces attempt to advance further into southern Lebanon, stating, “Between us and this enemy are days, nights, and the battlefield.”
Hezbollah continues its operations to defend Lebanese territory and confront Israeli incursions, as its fighters remain vigilant against further military actions from the Israeli side. (ILKHA)
