UNHCR reports 100,000 refugees fleeing Israeli aggression from Lebanon to Syria
The United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) has reported that the number of people fleeing Israeli airstrikes from Lebanon to Syria has reached 100,000.
The announcement was made by UN High Commissioner for Refugees Filippo Grandi in a post on X (formerly Twitter), in which he addressed the ongoing Israeli aggression against Lebanon.
Grandi confirmed that the displaced individuals include both Lebanese and Syrians, seeking refuge from the escalating violence. He highlighted that UNHCR officials are actively stationed at four border crossings between Lebanon and Syria, working alongside local authorities and the Syrian Red Crescent to provide support for those crossing the border.
The mass displacement comes as a result of intensified Israeli airstrikes, further exacerbating the humanitarian crisis in the region. UNHCR and its partners are on the ground to assist the growing number of refugees. (ILKHA)
