Iran calls for emergency UNSC session over Israeli aggression in Lebanon
Iran’s envoy to the United Nations, Amir Saeid Iravani, has formally requested an emergency meeting of the UN Security Council following the assassination of Hezbollah Secretary-General Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah.
This meeting aims to address Israeli genocidal aggression in Gaza and to demand an immediate halt to the occupation’s continuous attacks across Lebanon and the broader region.
In his letter to the Council, Iravani emphasized the necessity for decisive action to stop the hostilities, cautioning that the current aggression could escalate into an all-out war if left unchecked. He called upon the international community to intervene urgently to prevent further destabilization of both regional and global peace.
The assassination of Sayyed Nasrallah, coupled with the ongoing Israeli military operations, has prompted widespread condemnation throughout the region. Leaders and organizations are denouncing the violence, urging immediate and effective measures to curb the escalating conflict. (ILKHA)
