Fidan called for an immediate ceasefire and urged the international community to intervene as the conflict threatens to spiral out of control.

"With Israeli aggression unbounded and Lebanon on target, we are now in uncharted waters," Fidan said, referencing Israel’s ongoing airstrikes, including an unprecedented attack on Beirut’s southern suburb, which Israel claims targeted Hezbollah's main headquarters. He condemned the indiscriminate bombing of civilian and military targets, emphasizing the humanitarian toll.

Fidan pressed the Security Council to fulfill its "essential task" by taking decisive action. "I urge all of you to stop this war and Israeli aggression," he stated. He also expressed deep concern about the erosion of the global rules-based order, calling the situation a "sharp turning point" that threatens to destabilize the region further.

The minister criticized international actors for failing to take effective measures despite having the influence to prevent further escalation. He stressed that Netanyahu has consistently blocked ceasefire efforts and warned that Israel’s "genocidal acts" will persist unless the international community, particularly the Security Council, applies meaningful pressure.

Fidan reaffirmed Türkiye’s support for a two-state solution to the Israel-Palestine conflict, urging the establishment of an independent and sovereign Palestinian state along the 1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital. He concluded by calling on the Security Council to work toward a just and lasting peace.

"Only peace will ensure the security of Israel, and that peace will come only through a two-state solution," he said, emphasizing that Netanyahu’s political interests should not endanger regional stability or international order. (ILKHA)
